Celestia is a free and open source 3D astronomy program crted by Chris Laurel. Celestia is based on the Hipparcos alogue (HIP), allows users to travel through an extensive universe. Celestia displays and interacts with objects in three dimensions using OpenGL. NASA and ESA have used Celestia in their eduional and outrch programs, as well as for interfacing to trajectory analysis software.
